A Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) worker narrowly escaped a fatal accident after suffering a severe electric shock while carrying out repair work on an electricity pole in Gbagada, Lagos State.
The worker was reportedly part of a team that had gone to the area to fix a fault when the incident occurred. While working high up on the pole, he suddenly came in contact with electricity, leaving him with burn injuries to parts of his body.
His colleagues immediately sprang into action, carefully bringing him down from the pole as he appeared to be in severe pain.
A video circulating online captures the tense moments as the PHCN workers rescued their colleague from the pole before he was rushed to a hospital for medical attention.
He is currently receiving treatment and is said to be responding to care.
The incident once again highlights the serious risks faced by electricity workers, particularly when carrying out repairs on live or potentially energised power lines.
