Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has spoken about the decision of some former colleagues, friends and relatives to remain distant from him during his current challenges, saying he holds no bitterness against those who have chosen not to support him.
El-Rufai, who previously served as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, made the remarks in a statement titled “My Relationships and the Aftermath,” which he shared on his X account on Wednesday.
According to the former governor, his past support for individuals and causes was driven by his Islamic faith, Arewa background, personal principles and conscience, rather than a desire for appreciation or repayment.
He said he had stood with people and causes he considered important, even in difficult situations and at significant personal cost, because he believed doing so was the right thing to do.
El-Rufai added that such support was never based on expectations of praise, gratitude or reciprocity.
